Like reported there is a rumor coming from a French site saying that the new MMO will offer to the player two "lives", the social and the combat one.

How interested are you on the social part? In most MMOs so far we have the capital cities where you can chill, but it seems like there will be more than just chilling on that side. Would you like the idea of a light Sims 3 inside your next MMO? :P

I think I've had enough with this social networking wiring up my a#s, having to state every damn second of my life what I am doing from twitter to fb and back! Please give us a good game and not another social networking time-wasting game!

Well..i agree and disagree at the same time. The point is to play the game indeed but being social in games makes your game life a bit more spicy. Don't forget that they are working on battle.net in-game socializing service so we are probably going to see something like xbox live combination with facebook, steam.

Here is my perspective on the social networking rumour aspect.

I don't have a face book account and doubt I will get one. I think the Read ID system is as far as social networking should go in this new mmo. I'm not totally against integrating face book into this new mmo. Sure it would be great people can use both features whilst in one program, but for someone like me I have no interest in it and fear it will take away from the game aspect. I dont want that to be the hook of the game.
Think about how much drama happens in a guild, add to that all the social networking junk and its just a nice big juicy pile of poo a troll fly can sink its sucker into..lol

I'm quite big on privacy, and keeping my real life and wow kind of separate. ( lol guilty pleasure so to speak , not many of my real life friends know I play(ed) wow ) I know with the real ID system I have that choice but if the majority of people use the real id / face book feature then someone like me would probably get questioned because I don't want to be forthcoming with my personal details to what are essentially strangers online. Having said that I have made 2-3 good friends from wow which I talk to on a regular basis via email outside wow. ( I'm not a complete jerk! lol)

I don't know I just hope they don't try and hook people to this game with a big face book like appeal. God knows how much time people waste procrastinating in IF etc, do we really need more avenues to do that? More places for people to sit and hang out and ruin trade chat.
No doubt , it will be looked at but I really really hope they take into mind guild drama ( which always happens), privacy,(not just of everyone but more specifically younger players too) and encouraging people to explore game content rather then gas bagging in trade.
my 2 cents!

I can see why they would do some kind of integration, with the achievements in games now-a-days and recognition to guilds for taking out tough raid bosses, the MMO community is coming to the surface more and coming out to say "HEY I'M PLAYING THIS GAME AND THIS IS WHAT I'M DOING IN IT LOOK AT ME ADVANCE!!!" and while I think that is cool and all I think it's ultimately a scheme to get more to play, with an integration to facebook your friends would be able to watch you grow and see how the game shapes you and in turn give them the incentive to try, good idea, bad concept.

Anymore, employers are using social networking sites to "gather" information on their employees and potential employees to get a feel for how they act and how they carry themselves, as well as what to expect from them. I see this being a problem, letting an employer know you're full time or part time delving into a "fantasy world" and playing an mmo for 4-40 hours a week. I too like to keep some kind of privacy I think being open with what you are doing with your time is frankly none of anyone's business but your own.

That being said, we need a game changer. MMOs have gotten stale, and everything's been done before. We need something riveting and on the edge, a nex-gen mmo. But when people say Nex-gen what do they mean? Do they mean the graphics? The game play? The content? Dynamic worlds? What?

I'd personally like to see a game with an ever changing world (Dynamic) where the wars and battles change the face of the world. I want to see some new content, something I haven't seen in an MMO before, this includes classes, art, and play style. I was psyched to hear that Blizzard was working on a new MMO, however I was disappointed when they said it may be a MMOFPS. I remember working on a similar MMOFPS like PlanetSide, or Tabula Rasa (which actually worked rather well given the system it just flopped horribly). I hope to see something New and exciting in this mmo, that is if they REALLY want to hit a broad audience as it's been so announced. It's going to need more "realistic" and "scifi" graphics to reach out to me anymore, this WoW style art isn't going to cut it for "next-gen" IMHO.

This is all just my two cents of course.

As far as Xbox Live, blizzard announced that they don't think the xbox live system can handle something of this caliber and they won't work on something until it is. As far as steam and RealID go, I think this is all the social connection you need, if you feel the urge to connect your Facebook to your mmorpg, don't it a ridiculous idea that's going to open a whole new can of worms when it comes to socially engineering and stealing of online information/accounts.

To be honest the game is sounding more like a Mass Effect style game with a "social" aspect and a "game" aspect.

Ohh one more thing before I go... MMOs are going to have to reach out to a new platform, like lets say a mobile platform aswell, maybe not a full fledged ability to play on your mobile phone but perhaps a way to check on progress of an auction or maybe crafting i think THIS would truely be Next-gen.
